We are the mob, do you join us?
We acknowledge it, we are the mob. This weekend, the European Commission accused us, Internet users who defend freedom of expression and fundamental rights in the Net of being "a mob". Moreover, and to make things worse, they also said that all who is against Article 13 are just "bots". Thus, thousand of those "bots" run a demonstration in Köln on Sunday for the European Commission could check how a bot could look like in real life.
Soon after that, EC retracted about it and deleted the post claiming that this "thought" did not reflected the Commission's point of view. We would like to know what should we believe: the first tweet in which such an important european institution accuse us of being a mob , or should we believe the second one and think the the Commission does not consider us mobsters, and that they support Article 13 and the whole Coyright Reform Directive for our sole benefit and not for some other dark interests?
You dismissed the criticism by arguing that people did not understand the nuances of Shakespeare's mother tongue, a funny thing having in mind that the UK is leaving the European Union. As we also have a poor command of the English language, we would also like some clarification on your part, when you refer to us as a "mob".
From the title of the original post that you quickly deleted (but the Internet never forgets and it is here ) one SHOULD think that "mob" refers to a big accumulation of people, usually misleadingly driven to a certain situation , usually planned by some higher power, who makes the most of its ignorance in order to manipulate them.
But we are sure that you are sure of knowing that "THE" Mob, in capital letters, also refers to a criminal organisation that wants to impose its thesis and rule the world, apart from of the established power.
Bearing in mind that certain sectors in the E.U. have always described Internet users as crooks and pirates, it wouldn't be rare that this was the original intention of the text. We think we are absolutely wrong about it of course, but ...wouldn't it be good that you explained it to us?
But all jokes aside, it's very serious to accuse somebody of belonging to the mob, but much more serious if that accusation comes from an official European institution of that magnitude.
Of course, attitudes like these from the Commission are the ones that make clear to us, all european citizens, what should we vote in May; rather, what SHOULDN'T we vote.
We won't vote MEPs who cut our freedoms.
We won't vote MEPs who support the setting of an ex-ante censorship in the Net.
We won't vote MEPs who accuse us of bein part of a mob.
We won't vote MEPs who are vassals of the copyright lobby.
We won't vote MEPs who disregard democracy as well as the rights of citizenship.
We won't vote MEPs who want to turn the Internet into a property of the copyright holders.
We won't vote MEPs who don't represent citizens.
European Commission members, understand it once and for all! if you don't rectify before it's too late, something we firmly doubt (given the fait accompli) , you have lost at least 5 million votes. That's the number of people who signed so far (and in an increasing number every day) against a piece of legislation that intends to turn the european Internet in a very similar thing to the one that Chinese citizens "enjoy".
You are about to damage many people, citizens, business and the european competitiveness in the world itself. But for sure, you will have to bear the cost.

Somos la mafia, ¿te unes a nosotros?
Lo reconocemos, somos unos mafiosos. Este fin de semana, la Comisión Europea acusaba a los internautas que defendemos la libertad de expresión y los derechos fundamentales en Internet de ser una mafia. Es más, no contentos con eso, dijeron además que los que están en contra del Artículo 13 no son más que simples "bots". En consecuencia, miles de esos "bots" se manifestaron el domingo en Colonia para que la Comisión Europea pudiera comprobar qué aspecto tendría un bot en la vida real.
Poco después, la Comisión Europea se retractaba y borraba el tuit alegando que esa "reflexión" no reflejaba el punto de vista de la Comisión. Nos gustaría saber qué debemos creer: si debemos creernos el primer tuit en el que una institución tan importante como la Comisión nos acusa de ser una mafia o si debemos creernos la rectificación y pensar que la Comisión no nos considera unos mafiosos y que apoya el Artículo 13 y toda la Directiva de Reforma del Copyright sólo por nuestro bien y no por otros oscuros intereses.
Ustedes desestimaron las críticas argumentando que la gente no entendía los detalles de la lengua materna de Shakespeare, algo gracioso teniendo en cuenta que el Reino Unido va a abandonar la Unión Europea. Dado que nosotros también tenemos un pobre dominio de la lengua inglesa, también nos gustaría tener alguna aclaración por su parte, cuando se refiere a nosotros como a una "mob".
Del título del post original que rápidamente borraron (pero Internet nunca olvida y está aquí) uno DEBERÍA pensar que "mob" se refiere a una gran acumulación de gente, una turba o muchedumbre, normalmente dirigida de forma engañosa a cierta situación, normalmente planeada por algún poder superior, que se aprovecha de su ignorancia para manipularles.
Pero estamos seguros de que ustedes están seguros de saber que "LA" Mafia, en mayúsculas, también se refiere a una organización criminal que quiere imponer sus tesis y dominar el mundo, al margen del poder establecido. Teniendo en cuenta que ciertos sectores de la Unión siempre han calificado a los internautas como criminales y piratas, no sería extraño que éste fuera la intención original del texto. Creemos que nos equivocamos en eso, por supuesto, pero.... ¿no estaría bien que nos lo aclararan?
Así que ....¿podrían por favor explicarnos a nosotros, que apenas entendemos el idioma inglés, a qué se referian realmente con esa publicación, que ustedes, tan diligentemente borraron?
Y hasta aquí las bromas. Es muy grave acusar a alguien de ser mafioso pero mucho más grave es si esa acusación procede de una institución oficial de la Unión Europea de esa importancia.
Desde luego, actitudes como ésa por parte de la Comisión son las que nos dejan claro a todos los ciudadanos europeos que es lo que debemos votar en mayo, o más bien qué es lo que NO debemos votar.
NO vamos a votar a Eurodiputados que recortan nuestras libertades.
NO vamos a votar a Eurodiputados que apoyen la implantación de la censura previa en Internet.
NO vamos a votar a Eurodiputados que nos tachan de mafiosos.
NO vamos a votar a Eurodiputados vasallos del lobby del copyright.
NO vamos a votar a Eurodiputados que desprecien la democracia y los derechos de la ciudadanía.
NO vamos a votar a Eurodiputados que quieran convertir Internet en un cortijo de los gestores de derechos.
NO vamos a votar a Eurodiputados que no representan a la ciudadanía.
Señores de la Comisión Europea, entiéndalo de una vez, salvo que rectifiquen a tiempo, cosa que dudamos firmemente a la luz de los hechos consumados, han perdido como mínimo 5 millones de votos. Ese es el número de personas que hasta ahora, y en un número que sigue creciendo, han firmado en contra de una legislación que pretende que Internet en Europa se parezca muy mucho a la Red que "disfrutan" en China.
Van a hacer daño a mucha gente, ciudadanos, empresas y la propia competitividad de nuestra economía en el mundo. Pero desde luego, no les va a sair gratis.

Y en cualquier caso, si estás leyendo esto piensa muy bien lo que votas en las elecciones europeas de mayo de 2019.
